Itinerary Of Odisha Buddhist Tour

INTRODUCTION

In ancient times, Odisha was reckoned for its powerful and fiery Kalinga Empire. The ruler Ashoka embraced Buddhism at this place and it happened after the Kalinga war was been held with the Mauryan Empire. Once he embraced and started practicing Buddhism, he actually build many Buddhist structures including Chaityas, Stupas, Monasteries and Caves to promote and widespread word about Buddhism and how it got lead a person to achieve peace and harmony. Odisha Buddhist tour package is the ideal chance to explore and get to know about these spots, take out some time off from the hustle and bustle of the city and get some satisfaction and peaceful time. The tour package will cover visit to Odisha State Museum that is equipped with a lot of Buddhist sculptors received from different archaeological Buddhist sites, Khandagiri and Udayagiri caves, Dhauli known for Ashoka’s rock edicts, Peace Pagoda, Lalitigiri Buddhist monastery, Ratnagiri Buddhist monastery, Kayam hill, Langudi giri, Buddhist cave, and other beautiful architecture of the city and ancient temples. Day 1 Arrival at Bhubaneswar

Upon Arrival at Bhubaneswar, our Representative/ Tour Manager will Welcome you and take you to Hotel. Rest of the day, free to carry out own activities. Overnight stay at Bhubaneswar.

Day 2 Bhubaneswar Local Sightseeing

Full day city tour of Bhubaneswar Temples famous for beautiful architecture (One of the Most Important Temples, Mukteswar Temple, influenced by Buddhism) Later, visit Odisha (Orissa) State Museum which is house to lot of Buddhist Sculptors collected from different Buddhist archaeological sites of Odisha (Orissa) and Khandagiri & Udaygiri Jain Caves of 2nd Century B C. Overnight stay at Bhubaneswar.

Day 3 Dhauli & Konark Sightseeing

Visit Dhauli, famous for Ashoka’s Rock Edicts and the place where battle of Kalinga was fought which transformed King Ashoka and he became Buddhist. Also visit Peace Pagoda. Later, visit Pipili applique works and World heritage site Sun Temple of Konark (Watch the Buddhist influence on this temple) & famous Jagannath Temple and Back to Bhubaneswar. Overnight stay at Bhubaneswar.

Day 4 Drive to Lalitgiri, Ratnagiri & Udaygiri

Full day Excursion to Lalitigiri (Archaeological site of a Buddhist Monastery from 4th to 8th Century AD) with Monastery parts and many votive Stupas, different Buddhist sculptors with Chaita hall and a Huge stupa from where caskets of Buddha’s relic is available. Ratnagiri, the Largest Buddhist monastery we have till now, flourished from 4th to 14th century AD with most of sculptors of Vajrayana sect, hundreds of Votive Stupa & brick Stupa and huge monastery. Later visit Udaygiri, another huge Buddhist monastery which still under excavation and then back to Bhubaneswar for overnight stay.

Day 5 Drive to Kayam Hill, Langudi

Full day visit to Kayam Hill, Buddhist cave and Langudi Giri which is one of recent excavation with ruins of Monastery, Stupas and lot of Mahayanic sculptors, Five Dhyani Buddhas. Back to Bhubaneswar for night stay.

Day 6 End of Tour

Breakfast at hotel. Our Representative /Tour manager will accompany you to Bhubaneswar airport/railway station for onwards journey.
